"We Treat the Tough Cases"

Jonathan Greenburg, DDS & Michael Tong, DDS
Exclusively Treating Sleep Apnea, Snoring, and CPAP Intolerance

www.SnoreExperts.com

Wow, it has been 4 months to build out our new Suite but we are finally here. Come in and say Hi. We hope you will like our new office.

It has all the latest technology for the most advanced sleep treatment anywhere, including:

  • A new CBCT unit which shows us your airway, mouth, nose and sinuses in 3 dimensions. If you haven’t seen what this machine can do, plan on being amazed.
  • Digital impressions. Yes, it replaces that gooey stuff we have used forever. And it is more accurate, meaning the appliances should fit even better.
  • And we are now able to provide treatment for Vivos. Vivos is a new and exciting treatment option for Sleep Apnea. If this is something you want to find out more about, call our office.

Thank you for being patient with us. We know we have had issues with our phones and much more. With this growth, we are short staff. (I know this is a common theme.) In fact if you know anyone looking to work in healthcare and is a warm, wonderful and caring person, have them call our office and speak to Veronica. Tell her you heard about it in the Newsletter here.

Again, thank you for your support and especially your patience. From our family to yours, Dr.s Greenburg and Tong.

Secrets to sleeping better in the winter revealed in new study

Little darlin’, it’s been a long, cold, lonely winter — and stepping outside on a cloudy or overcast day might be the answer to getting a good night’s sleep.

A new study published in the Journal of Pineal Research found soaking up even a little bit of sun can help improve a person’s sleep pattern.

Researchers from the University of Washington used wrist monitors to measure the sleep patterns and light exposure of 507 undergraduate students around the clock from 2015 to 2018.

New Diabetes Guidelines: New Focus on Weight Loss, Sleep, and Continuous Glucose Monitors

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) released guidance this week outlining new standards for diabetes care.

Though the guidance is updated annually, this year’s tweaks are more extensive than usual and include stricter recommendations related to medications, new technologies, weight control, and modifiable lifestyle factors like sleep and exercise.

The guidance also aims to improve health inequities by screening at-risk populations for food and housing insecurity and connecting them with community resources.

Sleep Hacks

How ‘circadian hacking’ can help with far more than sleep

It’s 8.30pm on a gloomy November evening and I’m sitting on the sofa under a tartan blanket and wearing a pair of orange-lensed specs. My other half regards me with bemusement. A man who disapproves of paracetamol and plasters, Tim has lived through my audio-bathing phase, my steps-tracker phase and the notorious 2015 installation of our bedroom air-quality monitor, a period during which I informed him he should breathe out less carbon dioxide (could he, I asked, just tape his mouth in bed at night so I didn’t wake up groggy with low oxygen levels?).

Get more handsome in your sleep just by tweaking your nighttime skincare routine

What products should you use on your skin before sleep? Here's your 3-step nighttime skincare routine

You’ve likely heard terms like “beauty sleep” and “sleeping beauty.” Putting aside the Disney character for a moment, people usually use these terms to describe the idea that going to bed earlier enhances your appearance. It turns out that this concept may not be an old wives’ tale. You’ve likely heard about the importance of sleep for reducing risks of poor heart health, obesity, and depression. However, more zzz’s may have you loving your look when you look at that mirror on the wall. A small 2017 study of adults ages 18 to 65 found that just two nights of sleep restriction could reduce attractiveness.

Q & A

Our readers are invited to email us with their questions!

Q: How much of my sleep is spent dreaming? (Westly K.)

A: Westly, on average, we spend about two hours dreaming each night, or 20% to 25% of a night’s sleep. Some researchers think dreams are merely a byproduct of sleep, but others believe they’re important for mood regulation, problem solving, and stress reduction.

Q: Is driving while sleepy really like driving drunk? (Antoinette B.)

A: Antoinette, drowsiness can be as dangerous as driving drunk; research has indicated that it’s comparable to driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08, the legal limit for intoxication in many states. The problem is greatest among males aged 16 to 29, people who work irregular shifts, and people with untreated sleep apnea.
