"We Treat the Tough Cases"

Jonathan Greenburg, DDS & Michael Tong, DDS
Exclusively Treating Sleep Apnea, Snoring, and CPAP Intolerance

www.SnoreExperts.com

Wow, it has been 4 months to build out our new Suite but we are finally here. Come in and say Hi. We hope you will like our new office.

It has all the latest technology for the most advanced sleep treatment anywhere, including:

  • A new CBCT unit which shows us your airway, mouth, nose and sinuses in 3 dimensions. If you haven’t seen what this machine can do, plan on being amazed.
  • Digital impressions. Yes, it replaces that gooey stuff we have used forever. And it is more accurate, meaning the appliances should fit even better.
  • And we are now able to provide treatment for Vivos. Vivos is a new and exciting treatment option for Sleep Apnea. If this is something you want to find out more about, call our office.

Thank you for being patient with us. We know we have had issues with our phones and much more. With this growth, we are short staff. (I know this is a common theme.) In fact if you know anyone looking to work in healthcare and is a warm, wonderful and caring person, have them call our office and speak to Veronica. Tell her you heard about it in the Newsletter here.

Again, thank you for your support and especially your patience. From our family to yours, Dr.s Greenburg and Tong.

Philips recalls 17M sleep apnea masks over magnets that could affect implanted devices

The latest recall affects Philips’ DreamWisp, DreamWear, Amara View, Wisp and Wisp Youth masks. The masks feature magnets to connect components and hold devices in place. However, the magnets could affect medical devices, such as brain stents and cardioverter defibrillators, that are implanted in both the wearer of the mask and people near them.

The magnets may also affect patients with metallic objects in their bodies, such as shrapnel and splinters in their eyes, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

New Colorado research shows pushing back school start times increases sleep for families, teachers

Families could always use a little more sleep before heading to school.

11 News spoke with pediatric sleep psychologist and researcher at National Jewish Health Dr. Lisa Meltzer, who evaluated new school start times implemented at the Cherry Creek School District near Denver. High school start times were moved from 7:10 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. and middle school start times were moved from 8 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.

Sleep Hacks

What bedtime snacks will promote good sleep?

Popcorn, hot chocolate or maybe a little ice cream. Do those treats sound like tasty bedtime snacks? Some people can eat anything they want before bed and still get a good night's sleep. But research shows that what you eat is linked to the quality of your sleep.

The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) notes that good eating habits equal good sleeping habits. Their website has information and tips on foods and drinks to avoid before bed and which ones to try.

3 Melatonin Alternatives That Won't Make You Groggy in the Morning

Melatonin is one of the first supplements you'll be advised to grab over the counter if you have trouble sleeping. And like so many others, I've tried it in an effort to get better rest at night.

However, the few times I've taken any amount of melatonin, I've felt groggy and "hungover" for hours the next morning. My body's negative reaction to melatonin seems to defeat the purpose of taking it in the first place: to feel more rested during the day. Clearly, melatonin's not the best sleep aid for me.

Turns out, I'm not alone.

Snore Experts Customer Spotlight

Name: Steven S.

Age: 44

Years of snoring: 9

Number of snoring products tried: 3

Experience: When I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, I procrastinated for many years and ignored the results of three different sleep tests because I did not want to use a CPAP machine. After realizing how serious my condition was, and feeling exhausted before my day even started, I contacted Dr. Greenburg for help. With his sophisticated equipment he made my sleep apnea appliance. I was excited about wearing it as an alternative to the CPAP. From the very first night I experienced an improvement in my sleeping and even felt rested in the morning. Best of all my wife is finally getting her well deserved sleep! I would never again think of going to sleep without my appliance.

Q & A

Our readers are invited to email us with their questions!

Q: I work at night, do you have any tips? (Kyle D.)

Kyle, nightshift workers may have no difficulties working at nighttime and sleeping during the day. However, many individuals encounter difficulty working nightshifts because they are doing something that the body is not comfortable doing. Some suggestions to improve your body's ability to adjust to working at night include working in a brightly lit environment, wearing dark sunglasses on the way home from work, and sleeping in a cool dark environment during the day. Additionally, some individuals may benefit from sleeping for four hours immediately after getting home from work in the morning followed by another four hour sleep period in the afternoon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Should I take melatonin? (Trish L.)

Trish, melatonin is like the start gun for recruiting sleep chemicals to go to sleep but is not involved with sleep itself. Melatonin is helpful when changing time zones. For young, healthy patients, studies show that melatonin does not reliably work. The placebo effect is one of the most common effects in pharmacology. If you feel like melatonin is working for you, it is low risk so feel free to keep taking it.
