Thank you for being patient with us. We know we have had issues with our phones and much more. With this growth, we are short staff. (I know this is a common theme.) In fact if you know anyone looking to work in healthcare and is a warm, wonderful and caring person, have them call our office and speak to Veronica. Tell her you heard about it in the Newsletter here.
Again, thank you for your support and especially your patience. From our family to yours, Dr.s Greenburg and Tong.

Why does my dog sleep so much? How many hours does a dog need to sleep each day?
According to the Mayo Clinic, adult humans need approximately seven or more hours of sleep per night. This differs from other mammals like giraffes and horses, which need approximately two and three hours of sleep each day, respectively, according to the University of Washington.
But what about our furry, domestic friends? If you have a dog, you may have noticed they love to rest and relax just as much as they love to run around and play.

Q: Why do my eyes get dry at night? (Jessica W.)
Jessica, dry eyes at night (and during the day) are a problem for millions of people. It could be due to a surprisingly common medical condition called nocturnal lagophthalmos, which prevents the eyes from closing completely while asleep. But a more likely cause is a decline in the production or quality of tears.
You can relieve dryness with lubricating eye drops (artificial tears) and stave it off during the night by using more viscous eye gels or ointments at bedtime. There are also a number of longer-lasting natural and medical treatments for dry eyes.

Q: Can I sleep with contacts in? (Corie H.)
Corie, since contact lenses reduce moisture in your eyes, in most cases you’ll just wake up with dry eyes if you sleep with contacts in. There are, however, some more serious side effects that can result from overnight contact use. Extended contact use deprives your eyes of oxygen, causing unnecessary strain to the cornea. Wearing contacts lenses too long can potentially damage your cornea’s surface, making your eyes more susceptible to infection. You’re as much as 6 to 8 times more likely to acquire an eye infection when wearing contact lenses while sleeping, whether you fell asleep with them in intentionally or not. Adolescents and young adults are more prone to developing contact lens-related eye infections, which is attributed to less rigorous hygiene.
